Plot
Based in a not-distant-enough futuristic world that has crumbled from the cataclysm referred to as “the Fall”, protagonist Matt Koppelman finds himself in a stupor. As the creator of the world’s premier social media company Lifescroll, Matt holds himself accountable for creating the sentient Artificial General Intelligence whose errors caused the great cataclysm.
Project Imhotep was the planned worldwide release of an airborne nonomachine virus powered by the AGI named SAM. Its intention as head of a worldwide government were to prevent humans from dying ever again. However, instead of being resuscitated back to their former selves, people began to reanimate as flesh eating monsters. Now they require the genetic material from the living in order to feed the nanomachines within them to keep them from rotting into oblivion.
Now with a technocratic one world government led by a corporate conglomeration propelled off the backs of the poor, Matt finds himself struggling with psychosis. Can he lead the fight from within as a member of society’s elite class called the Patrons, and usher in a coup d’etat? Can he stay alive in the process as he faces not only the undead hordes outside of society’s walls, but the various factions all vying for power over the AGI for their own sinister ends?
